After a long career in scholastic wrestling from 1978-1983, Mr. King went to the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, where he graduated with a B.S. Chemical Engineering, in 1988. He worked as a process design engineer and with the Mobil R&D Corporation. Ed's father had studied Issinryu karate in Okinawa, Japan for 15 years under its founder. Ed's father obtained the rank of 4th degree black belt. In 1994, Ed decided to begin studying karate at Club Shotokan and within 3 years earned the rank of Shodan. During his training Ed found time to earn an MBA, International Executive MBA, at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in 2000. He was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society of business schools during that time as well. In May of 2002, Mr. King passed his Second Degree Black belt exam and holds the rank of Nidan. Ed currently resides in PA, with his wife and one child. He currently is employed as an economics and planning manager for the Valero Energy Corporation. He plans to open a satellite dojo for Shotokan Karate Jitsu.
