Shotokan Karate Jutsu Academy

Mr. Boccardo began training in Korean Tang Soo Do at Yi's Karate in Cherry Hill in September 1984. He had trained to the level of Blue Belt and was in training for his Black Belt when he broke his leg and was out of commission for three months. In the meantime, the school had been shut down due to the relocation of the school and instructor in 1988. For three years, he aimlessly wandered in and out of martial arts schools looking for a good traditional art. During that time, he dabbled in Tae Kwon Do/ Moo Duk Kwan, Hapkido, and Akido. He finally settled in Club Shotokan/ Marlton in September 1992. He trained under Senseis Ron Romano, Salvatore Lopresti and Steve Montgomery. His competitive career included three Miyazaki Big Apple tournaments in N.Y. with no success, he had been disqualified in all three. Mr. Boccardo made Shodan or 1st degree Black Belt in December 1996. He continues to train in preparation for his next Dan examination.
